Ideas are easy. Execution is everything. This is the mantra of John Doerr, former Google investor and OKR believer.
What I love about this simple statement is how much is loaded into these 6 words. Ideas are in fact easy. Anyone can come up with them and sell them to you as revolutionary. Not many people can execute on these ideas in a way that produces an output that completes your objective. That’s the hard part. That’s when things get complex, more people get involved and other solutions could derail what you were working on. The list goes on and for me, it’s all about finding the right balance of ideation, brainstorming and strategy with execution and just making things happen.
